You and your kiddoes can travel to Munchkinland together without leaving Orlando.
Wizard of Oz - Educational Exhibit is at the Orlando Science Center for a few more weeks.
"[My kids] got to climb the walls of the Wicked Witch of the West's castle and see her broom," said Sarah Pitre, visiting from Alabama.
Nearly everything is hands-on. Kids can create a twister, activate OZ, ride the witch's bike, test their courage, step inside Dorothy's house and lots more.
But since it's at a science center, they're supposed to be learning, too.
"I learned that we could do magic with light bulbs," said Anissa Maldonado, 7.
"I know I learned something, but I don't know what it is," Ian Maroulis, 10, smiled.
"I learned electricity," said Jamyla Leonce, 6.
While most of the little ones aren't able to explain the plot of the story, Maroulis saves the day.
"A twister hits Dorothy's house," he started. "She got sucked into this world, and she had to go see the Wonderful Wizard of Oz."
Wizard of Oz - Educational Exhibit is in town through May 1.
Here's the press release we got from the Orlando Science Center will full details of the experience:
ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2016) — Follow the yellow brick road and become immersed in The Wizard of Oz™, a Warner Brothers exhibit inspired by the adventures of Dorothy and her friends! The hands-on educational exhibit is a journey of self-discovery for the whole family! The Wizard of Oz™ opens Saturday, January 23 [through May 1] at Orlando Science Center!
The interactive exhibit travels to places seen in the film, from the Gale Farm to Munchkinland to Emerald City and more, with each destination offering mental, physical and creative activities. Children will learn about tornadoes and agricultural activities in Gale Farm and get a glimpse of what life on a farm is like. Then they will be transported to Munchkinland, a hands-on area that includes a music station, a build-able rainbow and a Munchkin voice enhancer.
Next on the agenda, guests will explore intelligence, personal strength and courage with their new friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Before making it to Emerald City, children will overcome the Wicked Witch and her Flying Monkeys by completing physical challenges such as rope and wall climbing, plus pedaling Miss Gulch’s bicycle.
In Emerald City, they will finally meet the Wizard of Oz and learn the concept of being oneself without pretending to be someone else. Families will also experiment with science and light and have an opportunity to create special effects!
Along the way, everyone will experience the adventures of Dorothy and her friends as they find their way back to true happiness. Elements of the movie available only in this licensed exhibit include the Ruby Slippers, the characters everyone knows and loves from the film, and classic movie moments.
Stop by today and experience The Wizard of Oz™ Educational Exhibit that will have visitors saying “there’s no place like Orlando Science Center!”
