SeaWorld Orlando’s newest roller coaster Mako doesn’t officially open to the public until Friday.
However, News 13 was able to get a sneak peak at the highly-anticipated attraction Thursday morning.
- Mako will be the tallest and fastest coaster in Orlando
- The ride is themed after the species of shark and features a 200 foot drop
Mako, named after the fastest species of shark, will be the tallest and fastest coaster in Orlando once it opens.
In the early hours of the morning, News 13’s Jerry Hume had a chance to ride the coaster for himself.

So what can roller coaster enthusiasts expect? Lots of twists, turns, dips and dives.
The shark-themed coaster features a 200 foot drop and reaches speeds of up to 73 miles an hour. And to make the ride even more exciting for riders, there’s only a single lap bar holding them in place.
Mako’s high speeds, steep drops and hills create a feeling like you’re floating in the air.
SeaWorld Orlando is hoping for a big winner with Mako. Years of criticism following the release of the documentary film “Blackfish” hurt revenue and attendance at its parks.
“Excited, relieved, we’re here, I mean this was a long time coming for us,” said Mike Denniger, with SeaWorld Orlando. “So we’re super excited for Mako.”
Of course, you can experience Mako for yourself when it opens Friday.
It's proving to be a big summer for theme parks in Orlando this year.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong later this month at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure.
Disney also has attractions opening this summer. Frozen Ever After opens June 21 in Epcot.
