Universal Orlando has joined Disney World by charging higher seasonal prices at it parks.

  • Universal Orlando implements seasonal pricing at parks
  • New pricing only affects tickets purchased at the gate
  • Universal Orlando becomes the latest theme park to charge more for tickets during busier times

The seasonal pricing changes, which took effect Friday, bring a one-day ticket for adults to $119 and $114 for children. A one day park-to-park pass now costs $169 for adults and $164 for children. It usually costs $155 for adults and $150 for children.

Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder said the seasonal pricing only affects tickets purchased at the gate.

“We are implementing seasonal pricing for one-day tickets sold at our front gate,” said Schroder. “This affects our walk-up price only. It does not affect online, advance purchase or multi-day tickets. Those prices are unchanged and, with per-day pricing as low as $48, continue to off our best value.”

Earlier this year, Disney World put seasonal-based pricing into effect for its one-day tickets. Attendance at Disney World declined last quarter, according to the earnings report released by the Walt Disney Company last month.
